Where an 8 GB server runs, and what it costs
| Country | Line | Chip and disk | Starter from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Germany | Standard line | A shared server processor, 75 GB SSD | €10.95 |
| Germany | Performance line | AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 60 GB Enterprise NVMe | €13.95 |
| Poland (Warsaw) | Performance line | AMD Ryzen 9 7950X with DDR5, 60 GB Enterprise NVMe | €13.95 |
| United Kingdom, US East, US Central, US West | Standard line | A shared server processor, 75 GB SSD | €10.95 plus a small monthly surcharge |
The Performance line costs €3.00 a month more on this size and gives up some storage for a faster core. Warsaw and Germany carry no location fee.
On a plugin server the difference shows once players spread out and farms start running: every plugin runs on the same main thread as the world, so a faster core keeps 20 ticks per second longer. If your server mostly holds a few friends, the Standard line is the better buy. What high performance really means explains how to tell.
Every term for 8 GB
| 8 GB Java | 24 months | 12 months | 6 months | Monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard line | €10.95 | €11.95 | €11.95 | €12.95 |
| Performance line | €13.95 | €14.95 | €14.95 | €15.95 |
The longer the term, the lower the monthly amount on both lines; nothing is charged for setting the server up.
8 GB with Java and Bedrock players together
| 8 GB Crossplay | 24 months | 12 months | 6 months | Monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard line | €12.95 | €13.95 | €13.95 | €14.95 |
| Performance line | €15.95 | €16.95 | €16.95 | €17.95 |
Starter Crossplay runs on Paper or Purpur, so plugins keep working while phone, tablet and console players join the same world on the same address. How Crossplay works.
What 8 GB is the right size for
The panel gives the world 6,963 MB and keeps 1,229 MB for Java itself. Plugins keep their data in that same heap, so the step up from 4 GB matters most on a server with many of them: ranks, claims, an economy, shops and a map all hold something in memory while players are online.
| What you run | Players | Is 8 GB the size |
|---|---|---|
| Paper with a plugin set: claims, an economy, a few minigames | 10 to 20 | Yes, start here |
| Fabric with performance mods, or a light modpack | 5 to 10 | Yes, start here |
| Vanilla or Paper for a few friends | 2 to 5 | More than you need, 4 GB fits |
| A large modpack with a few hundred mods | 5 to 10 | No, start on 12 GB |
Starting points from how much RAM a Minecraft server needs. Measure once your players are online, and move a size up only when the memory graph says so.
The free website that starts at 8 GB
Every plan from 8 GB comes with a free website for your server, built on astroworldmc.site. It gives your server a page to send new players to, with your rules and your address, and the editor is included. Mini and Camp do not have it, so if you were going to pay for a website anyway, 8 GB is the size where that cost goes away.
Starter compared with Mini and Standard
| Plan | Memory and vCPU | Standard line | Performance line |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini | 4 GB, 2 vCPU | €6.95, 60 GB SSD | €6.95, 50 GB Enterprise NVMe |
| Starter | 8 GB, 2 vCPU | €10.95, 75 GB SSD | €13.95, 60 GB Enterprise NVMe |
| Standard | 12 GB, 3 vCPU | €14.95, 100 GB SSD | €20.95, 80 GB Enterprise NVMe |
Per month on a 24 month term. Mini and Starter both have 2 vCPU; Standard adds a third.
